December was a very busy month. The children made special presents for their parents for Christmas. They also made the cards and the wrapping paper to put the finishing touches on those gifts. We hope that their parents will treasure them for years to come. All of the classes sang and did small skits to celebrate Christmas. From the youngest classes to the older classes the shows were unique and fun. The children and their teachers should be so proud of themselves.
January started off with a little snow and delays but the students returned and went right back into the swing of things. The classes learned about polar bears, penguins and other cold weather animals. We will end January with all things dinosaur and Super Bowl Friday.
In February the children will meet with Della the hygienist and “Buddy” to learn about proper oral hygiene. They will also learn about Presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. We will end February by learning how to be safe around electricity.
Our Open House for the 2010- 2011 school year will be held on Saturday, January 30th. In house registration has started so if you know of someone who will be going to preschool next year have them sign up now!
We now offer three 2-day classes, two 3-day classes and two 5-day classes.
On behalf of the preschool I would like to thank the church and congregation for their continued support.
Faithfully,
Barbara Laetzo
The philosophy of the Monroe Presbyterian Preschool is based on the needs of preschool children. Preschoolers are open, curious and eager. They are alive with a sense of wonder and have an inherent desire to learn. They need to experiment, to explore and to discover the world around them in order to start to understand their world. Their reality lies in what can be seen, heard, smelled, touched and tasted. For this reason our program is strongly rooted in their developmental growth process.
Our structured preschool curriculum readies your child for kindergarten through interpersonal relationships and personal development. We feel it is important for children to learn social skills such as, sharing, taking turns and relating to others in a group. They need to learn how to listen and to follow directions as they grow.
We will focus on helping your child develop self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-discipline, for only when a child feels good about himself can he learn about the world around him. We will stimulate curiosity and encourage questions and exploration, while helping to build the communication skills of listening and speaking.
We offer a variety of activities that will enhance the development of your child's small and large motor skills.
The Monroe Presbyterian Preschool offers a Christian Education program. The children meet once a week to learn about God and the wonderful world he has given us.
