Lunch Bunch
The Lunch Bunch is a small group of church members who meet regularly during the year to discuss books of a religious nature written usually by contemporary authors with varying opinions and comments on religion. This year we are reading the well-publicized book The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren. Author Warren focuses on the idea that each of us has been created by God for a particular purpose in life that often eludes us. The search for our own particular purpose can be difficult which is where the author helps each reader through a process of discovery.
The Lunch Bunch meets on Tuesdays at 12:15pm in the Church Library. We each bring a lunch and enjoy casual conversation before beginning our discussions. We are careful not to arrange lengthy readings between each meeting. Our discussions usually don't last more than an hour and a half before we finish. Currently we are halfway through 40 short chapters which allows for new members to join use. We are scheduled to finish March 20.
The Tuesday Lunch Bunch will be starting a new book in February entitled Christianity and Islam by Ronn Kerr. This 13-week study focuses on the similarities and differences between Jesus and Muhammad, the importance of the New Testament and the Koran, the historical development of Christianity and Islam, primary beliefs and practices, fundamentalism, radicalism, sectarianism and Christian/Islamic relations. Anyone interested in joining the group is welcome. We meet on Tuesdays from 12:30 – 1:30pm. Please call the office so a book can be ordered for you.
