Logos

What are young people seeking?

Like all people, they are seeking three things: Identity; Purpose; and Direction

Through Christian relationships, in the arena created by the LOGOS Program, young people and adults discover they belong to God. As they live in Christian community and grow in their faith, they find direction and purpose to their lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers (Acts 2:42).

The Midweek Miracle - Logos

Logos is a mid-week youth fellowship program that seeks to help children and youth build and deepen their relationships with Christ and with each other through Him. The program is strengthened by the "bones" that shape and support its very structure. These bones are: Mid-Week Programming, Priority of Senior Highs, Tuition/Fees, Pastoral Support, Parent Participation, Participation in all 4 parts, and Worship on Sundays. When we meet on Wednesdays, from 4:15-7:00pm, everyone participates in all 4 parts of the weekly program. Relationships are built between young people, between young people and adults, and most importantly between each individual and God.

Logos is starting this year on Wednesday, October 21st, and we have some new “Themes” planned for this year, along with LOGOS Favorites. We will jumpstart with F.R.O.G. (Fully Rely On God) Can you guess what the games will be???? What would you wear?

We will be holding a parent registration meeting on Sunday, September 20, and Sunday, September 27, following worship, for everyone who will be attending. Also, if you aren’t familiar with the program and/or have any questions you are invited to attend.

Through Christian relationships, in the arena created by the LOGOS Program, young people and adults discover they belong to God. As they live in Christian community and grow in their faith, they find direction and purpose to their lives as disciples of Jesus Christ. LOGOS has One rule… Everyone is to treat everyone else as a Child of GOD. No one has the right to treat anyone else as if they do not matter.

The Bones of the Program

Logos in a nutshell… Every Wednesday from 4:15-7:15pm / All Youth in Grades K-12.

It has four parts Bible Study, Recreation, Worship Skills, and Family Time. You will participate in all four parts every week. Relationships are built between young people, young people and adults, and most importantly between each individual and God.

Bible Study

The goal of Bible Study is to nurture youth and children into intelligent, obedient and biblically-informed discipleship. In grade level groups, each class uses a curriculum that is appropriate to their age group.

Recreation

The goal of Recreation / Play Time is to experience great fun at the expense of no one else. Participation in active play, do crafts, or experience the sharing of a hobby or special interest with a member of the congregation.

Worship Skills

The goal of Worship Skills is to develop responsibility for and practice in worship skills. Worship is our primary service to God as disciples. Worship is essential and central to the Christian community. In Worship Skills young people learn about worship and prepare to lead in the Sunday morning service of worship. Often this is done through a singing choir. Other times bell choir, instrumental choirs or drama are included.

Family Time

The goal of Family Time is to provide a joyous, intergenerational celebration of personhood over a shared meal as we experience being the family of God. Young people are assigned to a table along with one or two adults who act as table parents. The group around the table becomes a family as they share meals together during the year. Food is served family style and sometimes very uniquely. Conversation is purposeful. Games are played. Birthdays are celebrated.

Parent Participation

The LOGOS Program provides a place for parents to continue to fulfill the promises they made when their children were baptized. It is expected that each parent will make a commitment to the program in the following ways. Attend a parent meeting to review the program, fill out all registration forms, pay the tuition/fee, sign up for parent service, and have any questions/concerns answered. Assist their child with their Bible lessons. Provide hands on service to the Program.

Pastoral Support

The pastor will participate in the LOGOS Program in whatever way his gifts enable him to do so. The pastor is not expected to be the director of the program.

Visitors at LOGOS

LOGOS members are encouraged to bring their friends to visit the program. We do, however have some guidelines for visitors.

The child or youth bringing a visitor needs to contact the church a day or two before so arrangements can be made for the meal. The cost for the meal is $3.00. This can be paid on the day of the visit. Friends are allowed up to 3 times a year. After this time they and their parents are encouraged to make a commitment to the program.

LOGOS members are responsible for their visitors while at the program. They are expected to stay with their friend and introduce them to the staff at each segment of the program.

Questions

If you have any questions, you are encouraged to attend the parents meetings on either September 20 or 27. You may also call Linda at the church office: 783-1632.
